Family is one, yet has many members, each serving the other.
- By “Family is one” we mean there is one Family in the Lord Jesus Christ. His body is the one true Family. All who trust in and confess Him as their Lord and Savior are members of this Family. This is the Unity of Community. (Rom.10: 9, 10; Rom. 12:5; 1Cor. 12:12; Act 16:31)
- By “yet has many members” we mean there are many parts to the one Family, the basic unit being a married man and woman. These parts, also include and are limited to: a married man and woman, but who have no children; a married man and woman, who have one or more children; widowers either by death or divorce; widows, either by death or divorce; single parents, either by death or divorce; singles, that never married; never married person with his/her children; children who have no parents either by death, abandonment or divorce. (James 1:27; Luke 7:11ff; Rom. 16:3, 4; Act 16:11-15)
- By “each serving the other” we mean meeting spiritual, physical and emotional needs, through the manifestation of spiritual gifts in a loving, caring and trusting way. As we have opportunity, we are to humbly do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Rom. 12:5-21; Gal. 6:10; Heb. 10:24, 25; 1Pet. 4:10-11)
